How to Become a CNA in Montana
Getting a CNA certification in Montana enables you to work in a career that has future growth as well as the reward of bettering the lives of others.
There are some nurse aide training programs located in hospitals, health care establishments, nursing facilities, and educational facilities throughout the state. You must complete one of these accredited and approved programs and pass the certification exam to be listed on the Montana Nurse Aide Registry.
Enrollment and Completing CNA Classes
Step 1
Find a CNA Training Program
Before enrolling in a certification program in Montana, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or its equivalent. You must also pass a background check, undergo a full physical, and do a two-part tuberculosis test before enrollment.
Step 2
Complete your CNA training
CNA training programs in Montana are governed by state and federal regulations. These programs must include no less than 75 teaching hours– 50 hours of instructional classroom learning and 25 hours of hands-on learning in a clinical environment. During the hands-on portion, you will be working under the supervision of a licensed and certified registered nurse.
CNA Testing Procedures and CNA Certification
Step 1
After you’ve successfully completed your training, you must be deemed eligible to take the certification exam. The Montana Nurse Aide Skills Competency Check List is a mandatory evaluation you must also pass before your test.

Step 3
Take the Montana CNA certification exam
You will want to show up early on testing day to allow you time to go through the check-in process.
During the first part of the examination, you will have to complete tasks that you learned in your clinical training. If you pass, you will go on to take the multiple-choice and reading comprehension portion of the test.
Step 4
Once you pass your CNA certification exam, you should create a resume and look for a job. The average CNA Salary in Montana is around $21,700 a year. The Montana Department of Labor projects a 22% increase for CNA positions through 2016 in Montana.
